Diablo II expansion problem

ok my problem is after I install everything and run the program i get all these strange funny colors. I read through the readme and everything but it just does not seem to be working can anyone help me?

all I can gather is 1-3 problems, it can be either or both of them.

1)Update your video card drivers, if you dont have a video card that could be the start of your problems right there.
2)Update your Direct X, make sure it is compadible with the game.
3)Monitor Resolution, make your monitor 16-32 bit colors, or higher(not really tested that)

Other: You are not running a legit copy, shame on you if you are not running a legit copy..
