Recently I have rediscovered this site (http://nesworld.parodius.com/pirate.htm). It is amazing how many NES clones and pirated games that there are out there. The pirated games are interesting. Anybody know of any good ones?

Its far from a joke. Piracy is rampant in Asia, and anything there that can be cheaply reproduced and sold for money, is. This is in part thanks to the poor standards of living in that area of the world, and as well governments unwilling to prosecute to maintain copyright law and intellectual property laws.

The Famicom, apparently, is the cheapest and easiest to reproduce and then turn around and sell. Whats even funnier is that some of those pirate Famicom's are built to look like newer systems, like the N64 or the Playstation, even while possessing the horribly backward components used in the original Famicom(and NES).

That site is pretty neat though, it even shows some newer games actually getting ported to the Famicom, like Street Fighter II.

The ports are horrible. Try the Mortal Kombat 52 fighter thing, lol. The NES is not a very powerful system. The PC-Engine was the earliest console I think that could handle street fighter.
