It's a road without speed limit, many flowers lay along it's side. ;)

Making the car go that high isn't as strange as have the spedometer actually read 200 MPH. I think they kept the spedometer part so people wouldn't be tempted to "see how fast this baby burns rubber".

Uh like people break speed limits....every frickin day (as do I and 99% of other drivers) And the point is the sheer adrenaline one feels from speed.

Read more carefully, the road is called the autobahn and it's located in Germany.

Well, they could also probably go that fast cause if you made a car that couldn't go any faster, chances are the pickup on it would be crap, cars couldn't tow anything, and you need to go fast in emergencies. (ex: Pregnant lady, dying person, cold pizza)

Many cars have governers on them nowadays that do not allow them to go over a certain speed limit.

Note: The audoban (spl?) is slowly being entirely controlled, most of it has a speed limit (high), there are plenty of other places in the world with no speed limits

What, the Autobahn has a speed limit on parts of it!! Well that's it. I'm avoiding Germania. I should write to my local Reichstag member and stop this craziness.

When there are accidents on the autobahn, the pileup is MILES long, quite literally. Many cars are capable of 180 mph, and I know for sure a Lamborghini Diablo is capable of going above 200. A McLaren F1 is capable of far more. In America, some states actually have highways with no posted speed limits, I believe. I think it's in Montana or somewhere. Basically, there are 2 reasons for speedometers that go that high in America:

1) Some people race cars, just like in The Fast and the Furious. Some people race them legally at dragstrips, some illegally, but they want fast cars and will pay for them, so the automakers produce them. (Although most have so many aftermarket parts in them they don't count as the original car anymore)
2) An engine with more power for better acceleration usually will have a higher top speed. Sports cars have higher acceleration and higher speeds than normal cars.
