He's been with Nintendo for what, 52 years? He couldn't be all bad.

What exactly did Yamauchi do that made Nintendo bad? They've done quite well under them...

Wasn't he the one that kicked Square out of Nintendo's contract, so FF couldn't be on N64? That might be it...

Squaresoft quit and moved to Playstation when it was announced that the N64 would be cartridge based. Yamauchi was bitter about Square after that.

Without Hiroshi Yamauchi Nintendo wouldn't be where it is today.

The man, upon being named "President", had a staff meeting ORDERING any of his family members (a bunch) that worked within the company to be terminated immediately in order for him to effectively "rule" Nintendo.

That's about as cold as you get.

He was responsible for the "dumbing" down of EVERY Square RPG, pissing them off with not only that, but going with carts in the era of CD-ROMs.

He also almost didn't let the Legend of Zelda come out in the US...

He also almost cancelled GCN a year ago because he wanted Nintendo to be a "portable" only company...

Yes, he has ensured Nintendo has survived, but it's nothing more than bantha poodo thanks to him...hopefully new, fresh faces will let the company evolve finally...

The fucking hell he did! He might be behind the cart decision(along with Miyamoto because Miyamoto is still supportive of Carts).

But he did NOT dumb down Square's RPGs. Square's RPGs on Nintendo consoles were NOT dumbed down at all in Japan. They WERE dumbed down in America, as Nintendo of America's policy, not Yamauchi or Nintendo of Japan's policy. America and Japan are two separate markets. This is why the games released in either country may be different, missing, or exclusive.
