"National ID", "Smart Cards", and such have been advocated for a long time, and their advocation has picked up steam in the past months. Essentially, this would create a plastic card (similar to your driver's liscense) with a computer chip (theoretically encrypted, and thus "hard-to-forge") that would identify you with a simple swipe. However, such a database would be incredibly expensive, and shops and industry would have to change their purchase policies. It would bring greater security, but it could also bring easier tracking of one's movements - Essentially, you'll get an anti-HDcopying device along with some DoubleClick cookies, in your wallet next to ol' Abe and George. Please, learn about this subject, discuss it here, vote in the poll, and in general learn before you decide. It's got pros and cons, and while I think the cons outweigh the pros, that's just me.

NOTICE: This thread has many purposes. One is the poll - A simple Yes, No, or Maybe. The links are simply numbered, and any information on this subject will be put into this post as a numbered link whenever I get around to it. THis thread is also for discussion, ideas, possibilities, etc. - In essense, INTELLIGENT discussion. If you just wanna say "No, it'll suck, it'll be like '1984'!" then vote in the poll and don't post that. Post if you have something relevant, like a link or a theory or whatever.
Thank you.
