Hey everyone. I have spent the last few nights downloading a 157 mb file. It is a Final Fantasy Unlimited episode in .avi format. The problem is that I cannot figure out how to play it. I tried using Windows Media Player 6.4 (which played all of my .mpg files) and I also tried Real Player Basic 7. I get an error message that says it cannot download the DIV3 decompressor. I dont know what this is, or what I can do to download one. I really do not want to just delete this file after I have spent so much time downloading it. What is a DIV3 decompressor? Where can I get one? I am running a Windows 98 operating system right now. All help is appreciated!

Thanks!
~Travis

well try downloading a newer version of windows media player (i think 7.1 is still the newest for non-xp users) and then update the codecs. it should play after that.

No no no people... It's a Divx, which doesn't come standard with anything. Go to download.com and get the latest Divx player+codecs. Just do a search for Divx if it isn't already in the list of "Most Popular" on the main page. The latest version is 5.0.1 I believe. The .exe comes with all the codecs required plus it's own special player :)

Problem solved

Actually... here I did the work for you so you won't need to search :)

should you decide ever to download any movies (read: porn)from the internet you'll need DIVX for sure, it's the #1 codec used
