This is just a replacement zelda.dat file for beta 156. Warning: It's 6 times the size of the previous one, as the sounds have a sampling rate of 48k now instead of the previous 22.05k.

Just run this support archive and almost all of the sounds will be replaced by their Zelda 3 counterparts. Be the envy of all your friends!

I really wonder if I should give this to all of you, as I know I will start getting flooded with questions like, "When can we define our own sounds for ZC?" Answer is, "I don't know. Don't ask. Go away. You bother me." This is just something to tide you over until beta 158. Yes, I know some of the sounds are a little strange (like when you get your life refilled).

Anyway, here are the files:

Here's the support archives:

How about this: include both the LoZ and LttP sonds in ZC and in the quest files let the quest designer decide which sounds should be used.

edit:
The new sounds are fun! Just been fooling around with them for a bit. It's nice to have a new version of the 'secret' sound - the old one was getting a bit old.

Wow, this looks awesome. You better make it an option before bigjoe chews us all out..:D

I'm not expecting this to be a permanent thing, but rather just something for us beta testers to play around with?

Without some means of replacing the sound effects, I can't see this thing being put in place to replace the old sound effects, as that would take a step back from the usual Legend of Zelda cloning process.

Its rather cool anyway, the new secret sfx sounds so much nicer than the old one.

Perhaps if you could somehow duplicate the zelda.dat file, one with the original sound and one with the LTTP sound, and switch them with a quest rule.

Anyway, the new sounds really add some replay value to Newfirst too :D

Too late. :glare:

Perhaps I should have made myself clear before... THIS IS NOT A PERMANENT THING! DON'T GET YOUR UNDERWEAR IN A BUNCH! This is just a thing for you testers to goof around with. IF YOU DON'T LIKE IT, DON'T USE IT! I spent a lot of time extracting these sounds. Even the sounds for when you save Zelda or meet Ganon. Just the monsters roaring I couldn't find anywhere. *sigh*

Muahahaha... hahahaha... hahahaha...

hehehe.

Anywho, even if it deoesn't stay, it's nice to see what it would soundlike. And it all seems to work perfectly (I don't see why it shouldn't). I'm sure there's a way to make this a permanent thing.

Is there anything you can steal from Zedla 3 using Hyrule Magic(I saw that post).

I know, he was chewing me out before I even read the post lol..I like them, and think you should leave them in (as a quest rule of course)

Well, I got the sounds for saving Zelda and meeting Ganon from Hyrule Magic (since they are actually music).

Thry putting it in quotes. Then try it on Google. I found it, you can too.

I'd say that with all the attention we are giveing Hyrule Magic, someone should start making more ZC topics over there. Just a Zelda clone, bah!

I agree with the panel; make these sounds standard. If they aren't gonna be...well, I'll opt out of this packet.
