View Full Version : Two questions...

I have two questions about ZQuest for v1.90.
1. When I load ZQuest, it gives me a black screen. If it helps, I'm using a super-slow computer with a Pentium 166, and Windows 95.
2. Once the first question is resolved, I was wondering if you could choose different sprites for Link on different Maps. I wanted to make a quest where Link's spirit is torn from his body, and he posesses different people to get the triforce pieces he needs to regain his body. There would be 5 characters, and all have different sprites. Is this possible?
How much RAM do you have?
The second one isn't possible now, but you could suggest it in the Suggestions forum if you want.

I ran v1.90 on a 166mhz Windows 95 for about a year and it worked great. I had 64 megs of ram I believe, but 32 will most likely still work.
When you move on to anything with animated tiles though, you'll need a new computer- sorry!

VEL - I'll check the amount of RAM I have and tell you soon. BTW, why did you respond to the repost of question 2 in ZC Suggestions? It seems like overkill to me.
GDorf - I don't expect to try animated tiles anytime soon. I need to be able to USE ZQuest first.

Hmm I didn't even realize it. I'm used to answering the same questions many times, because they get asked many times in the forums, and I've been here for over 2 years. I didn't notice that you posted both of them either until now.

from personal experiance, I can say that ZQ will hardly slow down at all even if you have an old comp. I can work on a map with 6 layers, many animations, enemies and everything with high speed in ZQ, but ZC will be soooo slooooow if I actually try to play it. I have a 233mhz 64mb comp so you should be able to run 1.90 on your 166mhz machine unless you have 16mb ram or less.

I have only 32mb of ram. I hope to get a new computer soon...
32 MB should be enough to run 1.90, I ran it on a computer with 32 MB. It isn't enough to run the newest betas though.

ZC runs, but not ZQuest.

Try to change resolution and/or corlor mode.
I have a 486/66 -16MB RAM/Win95 and it's working out just fine, so there should'nt be any problem with your computer.
Try res. 800*600 and 16bit color.
Right-click on desktop and you'll find the settings.
