Were there any differences in the two versions of "The Legend of Zelda" for NES, other than the fact that the newer version had a warning at the game over screen to hold RESET while you powered off the system?

Both had the warning.

...Then how come all but one of the versions of the rom I have doesn't have the warning?

I thought someone once said that like the first 1000 copies or something called the Magic Sword the Master Sword in the second quest or something.. I don't know, that might have just been a rumor tho.

It was either me or TSA that read that from a FAQ or something somewhere...

I remember there was a warning on the save screen in my copy. I know there was one in Zelda 2 and it was a little different.

My copy of Zelda had the warning...it was a gold carterage too. I think that was before they started to retire games though...I remember the good ole days when games came out, they were on the market for years...

The Gold and Grey versions I have both have that warning in the box below the game over screen.

Please note, Zelda Classic does not have this message either. On a clone or edited ROM, there would be no need for that message, so it could have been removed.

This has been noted in my records. I am currently e-mailing Nintendo as to how many "versions" were released.

I am thinking there was a Gold Version with that message, a Gold that did not have that message, and a Grey version with and without it.

I got my Gold Version in 1989 (one I play). I got the Grey in 1995. That would be the "later" versions, as 1987 would have been first gen Gold versions, and 1990 first gen grey.

gold, used. it has the screen, but it's been years since it's worked.
