I found this link at http://www.geeknews.net

It's AT&T's Text-to-speech generator (http://www.research.att.com/~ttsweb/cgi-bin/ttsdemo)

The way it talks reminds me of SHODAN from System Shock. Now if they could just mess it up a little more...

That is so cool, I've used something like that on a Mac before at a school and have always wanted to be able to use it at home!

Hey, surprisingly, it actually worked pretty good for the few sentences I entered. One mispronunciation though where she pronounced "an" like "ANN". But otherwise, rather impressive.

Anybody figure out a way to save the .wav file?

Bah, it isn't that good. It said hamburger all wrong. It's a bit better than some speech things I've used, cause it sounds like a woman at least.

Heh Do the Mario!

JJMaxx, if it plays in winamp, right click the filename and find where its located on your comp. Then use that pathname with the Find feature. Drag the results to your desktop.
It saves the wav to your Temp Internet files folder.

Wait... Is it a real person recording it for you, or a robot?

Yes. Mike and Crystal are both recording speech for you as you type it out so as soon as you hit submit it starts to download. What's even more amazing is that they can do it for thousands of people at the same time!

:) Its a program of course. They take voice samples and string it together. Thats why it doesn't sound so fluid.

It worked just fine for me. It said my name right and said "hamburger" right. You guys gotta remember there are different dialects than yours.

I think Crystal's voice sounds the best and it is fun to make her say things like "will you help me find my clothes?" :naughty:

Leave it to VEL to go and play in the "naughty zone"

I had some gutter sentences too though so no biggie.

Hehe, we found something like this during school last year. So naturally, we turned the volume up all the way and typed in "Mrs. Fossom (the library lady) is a bitch." Hilarity followed. :D

I've been knowing about that for a long time! I found it at bored.com a while ago.
