I scanned a bunch of artwork from the Zelda 1 manual a long time ago for the ZC.com site and put it up recently on my webspace. If anyone wants it, get it now because I'll be taking it down eventually because it almost takes 1MB of the 2MB I have.

Pretty sweet scans.
No one need bitch about the double post either, there's a 10 image limit per post, thus, he couldn't have done that all in one post.

Thanks Gerudo. That was nice of you.

I just have the zip on my AOL space that has 2MB but allows linking, but I'd eventually put them on my Angelfire website (if I ever updated), but thanks, now everyone can see them!

I screwed up on some of those scans because you can see the text on the back of the page, especially on the one with Link and Ganon.

Eventually I'll scan the story part of Zelda 2 with all the artwork.

I feel a bit more drawn into the Zelda realm when I look at those pics. It puts the 8-bit graphics to light, so I can finally get a realistic view of Hyrule in Zelda 1.

That's what I always liked about artwork from games like Zelda and Final Fantasy. The artwork showed how the world of the game looked that the graphics couldn't show. Just like you said, it helps you visualize and get drawn into the game your playing. I imagine the Zelda 2 world to be much like it was shown in the Captain N cartoon.

Cool stuff man. You know what else is really cool about the Zelda instruction booklet? The very first page with the Legend of Zelda story, that has the overworld map of hyrule made out of clay behind it. You guy's know which one I mean right? I love that thing :D

btw, Can't wait for scans from the Zelda II book!

Hehe time for DC to whip up some new avs methinks =) I used some pretty crappy pics for the Z1 avs I made so these will be much more suitable =)

The shots themselves though are really the only way I'd wanna see Zelda... Maybe some of you can see that it didn't start out with such a kiddy feel to it...

I scanned it when I did a Zelda timeline research project for school.

Until the new GCN Zelda style game, Zelda has never really been kiddy.
The Oracle graphic/art style is more loose and less serious than the past games, but its grown on me and it fits the style and nature of the GBC Zelda games. Its like a bridge to the GCN "Cel-da" but it didn't go that far.
The new GCN Zelda does resemble the old artwork of Zelda 1, but without the serious tone, but I never considered the Zelda series to look or feel like the "Cel-da" Link. While it might be said that Zelda 3 was kind of cartoony in the graphics, it was just the style that was used, and the game had a detailed and serious tone to it.

I'll be happy if I see a compilation of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask + Ura Zelda, or even a new proper sequel to Ocarina of Time, but I will still play the new "Cel-da" and probably enjoy it since it looks like its going to be fun. Its not the way I want to see the series going, but as long as its fun, and its Zelda, and it doesn't ruin the other games, I'll be fine.

Awesome.. I lost my Z1 manual a long time ago :( :(

Do you think you could scan the pictures of the enemies? (I think they have them, the artwork ones I mean, like in the Z2 manual).. that would be nice :D

I have some scanned actually, but they're not that great. I scanned them back when Mandrag Ganon was asking what old enemies everyone would like to see in Open Zelda.
I'll remember to rescan those eventually. I've been wanting to do that.
I can upload what I have later when I have time and when I move some stuff of my space or onto another webspace.

I wish I had the Tips and Tricks book for The Legend of Zelda that Nintendo made a long time ago along with that Super Mario Bros. one. I think there's a bunch of artwork in it that wasn't in the game packaging, such as more serious looking pics of Link, like one where he has the recorder around his neck.

BTW, if you go to www.geocities.com/gamemastermak and look on the right, you can download the backside of the tip thing that came with Zelda of the map of the world.

lol, I know.. I had opportunities to get that when they used to sell it, but I figured, hey, I have beat the game, I don't need the tip book!

lol, yeah, I still have that thing lying around my house somewhere.. but I actually drew a couple things on it.. but the rest is prob. good.. :) They mislabeled a lot of stuff on there.. like I think they said that blue enemies were weaker than red and stuff like that..

Awesome! I have that too! (the fold out Hryule map). Of course, mine is written all over, cause I marked where the dungeons and secrets were when I was little, but it's still cool. :D

Do you have the collectors edition cart also? If so, scan the map that comes with it! Even though it doesn't show all of Hyrule, I gotta see this! I forget it, alls i remember is that it has the map in rectangles, the items on the bottem, and small maps of the labyrinths. And Link holding the candle in one pic!

Oh, and if you have the Z2 booklet, scan the pic where Link is in the clouds reading the scroll!

Check out this Zelda art I found while searching Google image thing for Zelda stuff. This picture was too cool to pass up:

I've seen that fan art before! Probably from some zelda website I went to. I liked how Link was wearing armor.

I did this a while back when I did all the "Legend art" avatars. I've also got a plain 800x600 of the big picture of Link vs Shadow Link.

(Argh, I'm starting to see the downside of linking multiple big images with the anyomizer, the images aren't caching for me and have to download each time)
