Free anoymiser... I can't seem to get it to work right, can anyone help?

It's simple...

Let's take a geocities site for example, since geocities REQUIRES the anonymizer to link any images.

Say the url to the picture is:

hxxp://www.geocities.com/Nakedman20/Hermit.jpg xx=tt

Without the anonymizer it will appear like this:

http://www.geocities.com/Nakedman20/Hermit.jpg
The Vb Code I just used was:[*img]hxxp://www.geocities.com/Nakedman20/Hermit.jpg[*/img]
Only without the *, and xx=tt

Add the anonymizer at the very beginning of the url and it will come out like this:

http://invis.free.anonymizer.com/http://www.geocities.com/Nakedman20/Hermit.jpg

The VB Code used in that picture was:
[*img]hxxp://invis.free.anonymizer.com/hxxp://www.geocities.com/Nakedman20/Hermit.jpg[*/img]
Delete the *'s, xx=tt

Basically just place the anonymizer (hxxp://invis.free.anonymizer.com/) in front of whatever url you want and that's how it works. (xx=tt)

How do you know when one is necessary besides trial and error??

Once you try posting enough images, you tend to remember which sites do and do not show up using the conventional method.

It's mostly trial and error ;)

Geocities linking requires the anonymizer in all cases though, so that's one site you won't have to wonder about :thumbsup:

The best thing to do if you are going to post images is to PRIEVEW the post first to make sure they all show up. Too many people go ahead and post without doing so resulting in a lot of red X's.

sometimes you can't have thw www part in the image url. i don't know why though......

Yeah, Homestead is a good picture linker and storage site.

I have everything at my geocities pages though because I have a couple pages there that have been up for a long long time. I don't really need another host, otherwise I would go to Homestead.
