Woo hoo, I get to go on vacation in a few more days! We're gonna go camping. We at least plan to spend a night or two on the top of Mt. Diablo. After that we're not sure where we're going, we'll just see what happens.

Aside from the standard things, like a tent and marshmellows, ect., what should we bring? I'm sure that when we get up there, I'll have forgotten some vitaly important campground item.

Also, if you have any good camping related stories, share 'em.

Umm, bring a bedroll, you'll be very glad you did. Bring multiple ways to start a fire, and keep them in different places. I find a cattle prod also helps to keep the other members of your party in line, and it doubles as a bug-zapper.

Lmao! I'll have to see that one... it could be a new extreme sport :D lol

well, it's not what I would bring but what I wouldn't bring... and that is anything related to computers or electronics... *shudder* I wish my family still went camping as much as we used to... I miss the vacations from the PC :P

Well, I have a few idea's, most related to fire though. :D

Here's the best one...
Get a wine bottle with a wooden cork. Put a little gas in it, shove the cork in and then chuck it in the fire, with the neck of the bottle poking up. Sometimes the (flaming) cork shoots out, sometimes it just farts fire out of the bottle.

We are going to Yellowstone National Park - USA in mid July.
My brother has already made reservations. He lives in Idaho.
We'll stay about a week. Below is a map of about where we will be at. (red X) http://invis.free.anonymiser.com/http://www.geocities.com/idowindows_gary/campsite.jpg
I'v been there befor but it's been a long time ago, and never for this long. We are thinking of renting a RV for the trip because the car would be to cramped, depends on how much it would cost.
Should be fun.:)

Man, I have not been camping in 15 years. I used to go all the time, I am an Eagle Scout, and we would camp out at least once a month. Bring a hamock, always nice to have a hamock. It is great to string up between two trees, near a creek or pond/lake, and relax, or if you want to entertain your friends, try to stand up in it.

I'm going camping on the four days after Memorial day. But it's kind of weird that I'm going there with my whole entire class of 46 students. It's also the first time I'm actually at a camp where we spend more than 1 night at. This camp is a enviromental camp so we don't bring electronics of any type (Oh no, no AGN for three days:eek: )!!!

Last year, I went there. My suggest bring your bike because ride your bike go down from top the mountain about 3000 ft up:eek:! It was fun.

That's a picture from our campsite looking west. On the horizon, at about the middle of the picture is where San Francisco is. It's covered in fog in that pic though. From the top of the mountain, you can see the city a lot better. For those of you who are interested, Mt. Diablo is the big green area east of Walnut creek in this pic:

There were alot of bikers there. But I couldn't do it. The two mile hike from our campsite to the summit was about all I could handle!
