I just got back from my first Brazilian Jiu Jitsu class, and my skin feels like it's been sanded down. My arms are red and one particular spot on left bicep is quite hilariously bruised. Also, I am somewhat covered in my sparring partner's aroma. Also, every here and there my skin is redder (mat burns) than the rest, which looks like a sunburn.

Good Times!

Heh. This brings back memories.

I remember my first swordfighting class. My whole body ached and anyplace that was exposed was covered in deep-purple lines. Although the blades were blunted on the edges, they still hurt. That was seven years ago, and I still have the scar on my back from when I unsuccessfully executed a roundabout maneuver.

Sounds painful.

I've always wanted to take swordfighting lessons. Swords are really great.

And heavy, too. Unless of course you're using fencing foils.

The sword at our house isn't heavy, weighs about 25 or 30 pounds and I can still swing it around with one hand and keep it under control.
