Most of the pictues themselves look good, but they're blurry and messy. It's probably from the Jpeg compression or the original images weren't that good. Try compressing them higher (above 75%) when saving as jpegs if you can to see if that helps.

Breaker, if you want to challenge his art work, try to do some StarCraft Concept Art avatars. Some of those are awesome and would be great avatars.

I agree some of them look like they have been compressed too much.

aw well, i did the highest compression possible... maybe its because the they are from wallpapers meant for a 800x600 desktop...

First of all, he didn't create the drawings. What exactly would I have to challenge (I've added quite a few of my own work to the list already)? Btw, Starcraft sucks so nothx.

Did you say earlier that you had a bunch of BMPs that you were using? If so, were the original wallpapers Jpegs on the website, and you saved them as a BMP? If you saved a Jpeg as a BMP instead of a Jpeg, your going to loose a lot of quality because the image is being put into the BMP format and then re-compressed. Save a Jpeg image as a Jpeg, and a Gif as a Gif to retain image quality.

You have to be careful which formats you export as...

So if I took a pic, a Jpeg, and exported it as a GIF, no matter what...it's gonna look "compressed" because a .gif's palette is not as detailed as .jpg's.

If you have a .gif, and export it as .jpg, you won't lose any quality (usually).

Same with .bmps -> .gifs. You lose quality.

With my program, Fireworks...you can try and "up" the quality or mess with the palette, but you usually can't get the same quality as the original, unless you do an inferior to superior format.
