While on AIM I managed to find a funny thing. When chatting with someone, go to INSERT--->Record Sound, and you can record a sound (up to 10 seconds long) and send it to them, and even save it! (Unlike the "Talk" feature, you can't save that..)..

Anyway, I COULD upload a .wav of me speaking, but it will be shorter than 10 seconds, but I want it longer. Does anyone know of any free (preferably small in filesize) sound recorders? I want to be able to speed up and slow down midis and wavs as well as record. Well? Anyone?

EDIT: uh...well...looks like Raichu86 helped me with the recording problem..

Raichu86AGN: Go to Start > Programs > Accessories > Entertainment > Sound recorder
Raichu86AGN: XD!
SBKJAZZ: What?
SBKJAZZ: ....
Raichu86AGN: Blah blah blah (CENSORED by request of Raichu86)
Raichu86AGN: =D
SBKJAZZ: Sound recorder?
SBKJAZZ: ....
SBKJAZZ: D'OH!!

Well so looks like that bridge is crossed, but I'd still like the ability to speed up and slow down midis and wavs..anyone know of something like that?

EDIT2: Well it seems I can slow and speed up wavs...but not midis. Any takers?

Actually, Microsoft's built in sound recorder can slow down wavs. Just open the edit menu (I think) and choose decrease speed. It will reduce the speed to one half of the previous value.

I edited my post, Raichu. I still need a program that can do that with midis..

Any MIDI editor can change the tempo. I did have a player a long time ago that could do it, too. I'll see if I can't find something.

You do know that slowing it down won't change the pitch like it does with recorded sound, though? You'd have to record it for that...

I'm not sure if such a "simple" program exists. Best thing to do is download a small "midi sequencer", open up the midi and change the tempo yourself. I'll see if I can find you something that'll get the job done...

EDIT: Here try this little sequencer, it's fairly small.

3.1 MB is fairly small? :blah:

Well, thanks, I'm still going to try for a smaller program though..

http://www.noteworthysoftware.com/

You could try NoteWorthy Composer, but I don't know how big it is.

So be it. You might want to browse through ZDNet as well.
