Have you ever popped in a game you have totally mastered and just wanted to do more. Specifically, try to complete objectives in unorthodox fashions or ina different order just to see what it would be like. You know, like trying to beat Kraid in Super Metroid without the high-jump boots, or getting Mia in Golden Sun and beating Saturos before even going to Kolima Forest. So how do you like to be rebellious in Video Games. I do it all the time, especially in my Sonic games.

It's not rebellious; it's called challenge gaming. And yes, there are many people who do it. Like the guys who can beat Legend of Zelda in 50 minutes without getting the sword. Rebellious is when you start up an Oddworld game (Abe's Oddysee or Abe's Exxodus work best), and systematically kill off every Mudokan you can find.

What I meant is that instead of doing things the "normal" way, you are in a sense rebellious since you try to do things that the original programmers of the game did not intend for you to do.

Actually, games are designed from every possible aspect. That's where the game testers come in. What you think you just thought of as a neat trick, the game testers were doing months before the game was even released. So you call it rebellious if you wish. Fact of the matter is... if the game programmers didn't want someone to do it, they wouldn't have put it in there in the first place ;)

So you want to be rebellious?

Try finishing Final Fantasy III/VI with your characters at an average level 7.5.

Want to know challenge? In SMW, try to get to end of castle 5 without using the riding platform. Try to get 999990 points in only a few miniutes. Try to get into the hardest spot in the game: It's in the last ghost house, in the room with the key. When you enter the normal enterence, there is a wall to your right. beyond the wall is a small space you can move in, but you can never reach it. Using the cape, get into that spot.

try going through majora's mask without a single heart pice/container. or x3 without the upgrades or zero. :kawaii:

Try this...
Pick ANY RPG and go through it without ever buying a new piece of equipment.
I bet at times that will make it difficult.:mischief:

I've gotten to Ganon with no sword on Zelda 1. I've also gotten to Ganon with only 8 hearts, wooden sword, and green tunic. I then got the rest of the hearts to finish him (but still only had the wooden sword and green tunic)

I also beat Ocarina of Time without getting any heart pieces or heart containers (or the armor upgrade, where you get white rings around your hearts). It wasn't really that hard, but very fun.

I'm gonna try to do the same with Majora's Mask, but I think I'll have some trouble with that fish boss. He was hard enough when I had lots of hearts!

Well, not always, of course. Like in FF8, where you modify your existing equipment instead of buying more. Or Zelda, where you find weapons rather than buying them. (I'm certainly picky, aren't I? )

What's really great is games where you're truly allowed to be evil. I started a new game of Fallout 2 recently in which my character is about as evil as can be. She's a thief, a slave trader, a child murderer, a total slut and porn star, a grave robber, and so forth. it's wonderful.

take a strategy game. play a scenario. turn on your ally. it's fun as heck when they try to stop you by using the ally as a wall, and you knok their thing down opening up alot of stuff you weren't supposed to see yet. especially in Age of Empires and they give you characters, but no buildings.
Or simply try not following directions, just to see what it does. usually they think of everything you can do, but more than once I've screwed up a game by just doing something seriously unorthodox.
