What about deleting user names if they do not show in as logged in at over two months, unless prior notice is given?

This would clear up a lot of user names so that we coul dhave productive members under them..... Also we could put something on the name showing its a recycled name nitl Custom Avatar is reached, hence proventing misidentity, It would also allow banned names to be recycled after that person loses interest

Yeah I think the Idea is good, but its like that in all the forums. There a forum with 7000 members, actualy there must be 25% of active members.

So I dont know, the idea is good but it should remain the way it is... in case they finally deceide to wake up. And also , the fact of having a member count of 1700 kind of advertise. If the forum count is at 400, maybe less ppl will come. And avatars would be a pack of trouble, they should remain after even 2 months. Just teh user status chaneg to "old member" or something.

Methinks that it would be too hard to keep track of, "The exceptions" I think that it would be better if there would be a system where all members of the AGN moderater/senior moderater/AGN staff would "tag" or "vote" for members that they thought should be taken off.

This could also be useful when banning someone. (Mods could "vote" to have a certain user removed)

Ultimatly, however, only the AGN staff could see how many mods have "voted" for a person, and they could be the only ones to actually remove a user. No one else could see how many "votes" he or anyone else has, and who voted for him/her/that person, to prevent arguments.

Just an idea, with all intrest in fairness.

heck, leave them on.. makes the forum look bigger http://forums.armageddongames.com/html/smilies/biggrin.gif

Besides, what if you take a trip for 2 months and then come back only to find your username is gone? There's no harm in leaving them on there, so why not?

Yea the bigger the number we have signed up, might make more people sign up! And it makes us look more sophisticated. http://forums.armageddongames.com/html/smilies/biggrin.gif

Yea that would suck if someone signed up before they went on a loooong summer vacation. Then when they get back the find, "Your user name has been trashed!" What nooo that was the best name! That would really suck for them, so it's best to keep them added. http://forums.armageddongames.com/html/smilies/biggrin.gif

hehe... old topic

would it be technically possible? even if you delete 6 month old ones? could open a few jobs and would save server space to bring some features back...

Thats actually a pretty good idea, i think. But the chances of it actually being implemented are pretty slim. After being a dictator aristocracy for so long, the staff would probably have a hard time dealing with the extra amount of time it takes to ban someone or to delete a username. See, now its just a few simple clicks and your done. But with that kind of system a simple ban could be drawn out for a whole week. Its really not effective enough, i think, to satisfy agn's needs. The staff is too large for that. Maybe if there was like a ban committee of a few select mods who've been around a long while and know everybody and most of what goes on around here. Like 4 or 5 of them, that could be the ban/user erase committee. Then if a mod whos not on the committee thinks a person should be banned, report to the committee then....wait...what do mods do? They ban people when people fuck up. So...having an aristocracy inside an aristocracy isnt really necessary..is it? maybe its not such a good idea...

Well, I don't see what's wrong with it, as someone who definitely hasn't been around long enough to deserve more weight than a Milkdud in these sort of topics. It could end up being one of those things where the exceptions are more common than the steadfast applications, though.

Paradox, you ought to be ashamed. How dare you dig up a topic from before I even joined these then-fledgling forums. You shall suffer my enduring wrath.

As I recall, this idea was shot down by WarLord. He said that the space gained by doing such would amount to about the space taken by perhaps 1 thread. This wouldn't justify the time and potential hassle it would take.

What is it you think we do? Every moderator for himself? If anybody ever questions on a member being banned or not, the staff as a whole may discuss it first.
